If you don't raise your own..

How much do you buy them for? And where?

I've been getting mine from PetCo.. and it's 5$ for 3. (frozen)

Ouch- never buy there, unless you're in a pinch!

I've been very happy with bigcheese rodents:

Petco and PetSmart are a rip-off. Most per stores that sell reptiles, sell live pinkies for about $1 each. Much better yet, buy frozen pinkies in bulk online for about 20 cents each. Even when you factor in the shipping costs (100 pinkies may be $20, shipping may be $30), you're getting your pinks for about 50 cents each. 100 pinks online $50, 100 pinks from Petco $150. You save $100 in the long run.

What really gets you if you have a small quantity of snakes is the shipping.

Allegedly you don't want to keep them frozen for more than 3 months before using them, supposedly you can extend that to 6 months by vacuum sealing them (but break seal before thawing or the fluids get sucked out).

If you can use a bulk order in 3 months than it usually is economical. If you have someone else who can add to your order and split shipping, it is very cost effective.

Thanks.

I don't think it would be smart of me to buy online then. I only have one king snake.

Is anyone on here from around Flint, Michigan?

I'm sure there is some place cheaper then Petco then.

Thanks again.

I'm currently not in need of any, but I pay $1.25 a piece for them live when I do need them. I pay $1.25/rodent regardless of size, frozen or live, from local pet shop.

Once I have a few more snakes (next season) it will be economical for me to have frozen delivered.
