bed a beast

girlytortoise Sep 24, 2006 07:02 PM

i just bought bed a beast today for my leopard tortoise. i saw on some forum that you should mix that and play sand for the best results. does that mean i put the bed a beast down first and just mix sand on top of it? i forgot what forum i saw it in.

hmmm ive just experimented with it. i mixed 1 10lb bag of repti-sand to the whole brick. i dont know if its good, but ill find out. now on the wrapping of the brick, it says you can use a large pail or even a sink to soak it in. heh . bad idea. this bed a beast is fine grind. when gets wet, it expanded and took me a bit to try to filter out as much as i could so it wouldnt go down sink. im sure it wouldve clogged it.

I use a brick of Bed-A-Beast mixed with Vita Sand (calcium in a sand texture). I let the Bed-A-Beast expand in water in the bathtub first, let it dry for a couple days, then mix the Vita Sand in. I think it works well for my Hermanns.
