Laticinctus Mouth Rot after egg-laying

boigamaniac Sep 25, 2006 09:35 PM

Unfortunately, the female who just laid eggs seems to have developed acute stomatitis. I've been putting gentamicin drops once a day for 3 days already, but do any of u have any specific advice? Would it be ok to feed it while treating? Thanks in advance.

Some of the adults. Look out for the huge male in the pix. it's as thick as an adult's thumb.

Updates: The eggs look promising after almost a week.

Another gravid female on the way. This one is in her shedding stage.

For bad mouthrot i've always used Hydrogen peroxide and neospirin cream. Swab the mouth down with Q-tips and H202, see if any of the chunks are easily lifted. Let it foam up a bit, then swab the mouth back out with a dry Q tip to soak up any residual H202. Then use another Q tip to wipe Neosporin cream(not oitment) around the mouth. Make sure to clean the lip fold, since this is where alot of bacterea hides. Do this daily or every other day. I've cured alot of bad mouth rot cases this way(rescues, wc imports and whatnot).
