Adult male stopped feeding?

zimbu Sep 25, 2006 10:56 PM

Judging by the time of year, does he just not feel like eating because winter is approaching? I got him in may, and until last week he's been an agressive feeder, immediately taking a thawed medium rat every two weeks. Now he couldn't be less interested.

Should I just offer him food every few weeks and otherwise leave him be until spring and hope he starts eating again? Or is there anything else I should be doing/concerned about?

Also, we moved to a new house just after his last meal (3 weeks ago now), but he's in the same cage with everything set up the same way, and his daily routine hasn't changed at all from what I can tell. Think the move could be a factor? It's not the first time he's been in a car for an extended peroid of time, and it never threw him off in the past.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

Although there's certainly a chance the move may have stressed him a bit, it's more likely the time of year. Winter time is breeding season and most will shut down sometime in the next few weeks till spring. It won't hurt to offer him something now and then, but don't expect him to take it. Have you got a lady friend for him?
