Winter is coming

sd2fast4u Sep 26, 2006 10:37 AM

Hey everyone, Its been quiet on the Sulcata page for a while now. My torts are getting bigger and we now have a beautiful baby boy who has taken over the spare room. So does anyone have any low cost, low space, wintering ideas? I have built a large wooden outside house for them, but are there any other ideas out there? Thanks!

Do you have a basement? You could section a part off and run a dehumidifer or two, hang some lights from the ceiling. Thats how a few of my friends up here in the north keep theirs for our 8-10 months of winter (varies every year it seems, lol).

Thanks, but no, I dont have a basement. I live near the coast, Here in North Charleston South Carolina. I am hoping that the large wooden outside house I built for them will work, that way, they can come outside and graze on the sunny days. We have not had very long cold spells in the last few years, and no snow for the past 5 to 7 years... I think I will be fine..

Sounds nice! Maybe I need to think about moving! I would love to live somewhere warmer!
