Need breeding info on the Texas Longnose

crocodile Sep 26, 2006 11:47 AM

I just acquired an adult trio of Texas Longnose snakes. I'm having trouble finding any breeding info on them. If anyone has any info or a site to go to please let me know.

I don't think there is any trick to breeding Longnosed Snakes. Just treat them like kingsnakes. Cool them down to the low 60s (or even mid 50s) for 6-8 weeks over the winter and when they come up, feed them, wait for the females to shed and put in the male. Shouldn't be difficult.

Getting the babies to take pinkies can be challenging. They really are confirmed lizard eaters out of the egg. They will switch over, but it isn't always easy.

Check out www.herper.com. They had an online article about longnose. Don't remember if it had any info on breeding. They're one of the species I'm interested in. Good luck.
