Digging?

vmartino Sep 26, 2006 03:38 PM

Today i misted my bearded like i do once a day because thats the only way he'll drink. Today he was half way into a shed and after he drank for a few minutes he started to slither around in his sand and start digging with his front legs and rub his belly againt the ground. It was very interesting but what exactly was he doing? im guessing hes trying to shed but i just want confirmation

SOunds like fun times. I dont have sand in my beardies home yet. In fact I may never have sand in there, I will definitly build a sand box for him but thats not the issue here! lol

Back to the question. Many reasons, yes he may have been trying to get some shed off, he also may have just been goin for a swim or tryin to get some water off.

I know when i spray mine down and I get him good and wet he will do this on the tile. Have you tried putting yours in a tub of water and lettin him play in the water at all? Supervised ofcourse. Might be a good idea to try, your beardie just might love it. If you dont know how find some caresheets and give it a try.
Basics are dont use cold water, dont use hot water, put a towel or something that your beardie can get grip on when in the water, make sure the water is not to deep and always always supervise!

good luck and have fun,

M

My adult male loves to dig. He has a lot of sand in the bottom of his enclosure and enjoys digging himself into it. Yours might just be having fun (or trying to escape, LOL.)
