adult ghost refusing to eat

bosoxbomb Sep 26, 2006 04:10 PM

Purchased a beautiful adult female ghost milk that ate 3 adult f/t mice in the first 2 weeks. It has since refused everything I put in front of her and that has been 4 weeks now. She is not gravid. She has shed at least once during the non-feeding periiod. She had a clutch of 5 eggs in May that spoiled. tried to introduce her to Mr Hypo and Mr DH but she was very disinterested. She is still very solid and lively but has lost about 15 grams since last weigh in (3 weeks ago). Is she just getting finicky or is there something more serious. Appreciate your help.

What temps, what kind of cage, what substrate? How active is the area she is in? Does she have any cagemates? Etc.

large sweater box in a rack system. Aspen chips, large bowl that she likes to soak in or hide under. Rack is in garage and gets cross ventilation with other doors open. no bos mates since she stopped eating. Tried to mate with hypo for a while but nothing to do with him. Does she need isolated area away from sent of others in the rack

What temps are you running for her? I don't THINK that the scent of the other snakes has anything to do with it, unless you have snake-eating snakes in the same room with her. Is it possible that she wants to brumate? Has the light cycle gone down? Have you had her checked for internal parasites, as that can interfere with them eating?

Removed Miss Ghost from garage rack and put in dark closet inside our home. She ate a f/t mouse two nights later!!!! Will try again in a few days to get her beefed up before putting her down for winter.

Perhaps she just wanted some privacy.
