Cypress Mulch

j3nnay Sep 26, 2006 06:34 PM

A lil off topic, but I figure you folks are the best ones to get an answer from.

Cypress mulch as a bedding for snakes - I've heard bad things about cypress, such as it causes cancers and respiratory infections and other such lovely side effects. But, I believe that was cyprus bark that did that. Is cypress mulch going to do the same thing? I see it being recommended in a couple other forums for more rainforesty snakes, and so I'm not so sure about my information anymore.

Any information would be great!

Since no one was going to post anything i guess i will it is Cedar that causes respratory problems..but cypress might a little. Well...mulch is fine for them....normally i dont use it for the whole bedding but for just decoration and a humidity holder. But either way you can do with it how ever you please....

I use cypress for all our ball?s. I am in Colorado and it is so dry here that if I do not keep their bedding moist they dry shed. The cypress is what I found not to mold if it is moist.
