talked to a mr. davenport of, i believe, arb reptiles. He was extremely helpful in helping me with my questions with thermostats.
ok, i am going to grab a better thermostat soon, but some unexpected problems have come up and right now im strapped for cash, seriously strapped.
I have a Repti-Temp 500R for my ball python rack.
However, it failing is a serious concern of mine. If it were to fail i want a back up in place. Would setting a dimmer, say at the maximum setting that would allow for bearable temps, used in conjunction with that thermostat work.
outlet>dimmer>thermostat?
in a sense, even if the thermostat were to fail, the dimmer would keep the temp at the max setting allotted by the dimmer, and no more?
this is temporary of course, but has anyone had much experience with this idea/scenario?
good idea, bad idea?
thanks for your time.
btw, even with the better thermostats, what kind of back up systems do you fellas use? if any?
