Tiny peice of leftover skin stuck

ronfinney Aug 05, 2003 07:35 PM

Myy little veiled just shed yesterday and has a very tiny peice of shed about 1/32" wide still on him, does anyone have any suggestions to get it off? I've tried a Q-tip with a little shed-ease but that didn't work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

the best thing that you can do is leave it alone. you could cause damage to the new skin underneath if you try anything other than a wet q-tip.

Hi there,

It's not uncommon for little pieces to get left behind. What you have to be very cautious about is when skin is not shed off of the feet or tail tip - this can lead to bigger trouble.

You might try an extra heavy misting (using warm water). If the spot doesn't come off in a couple of days, try using a tiny bit of mineral oil on a moistened q-tip. Rub gently on the spot and it should come off.

Be careful with this technique around eyes....of course.
It is also good if you have pure Emu oil.
We have used this method for years on all types of chameleons.
