enclosure opinions

bpetty13 Sep 26, 2006 10:58 PM

i came across an enclosure today made by exo-terra. i saw one that was 12x12x12 and one that was 12x12x18. i am planning on getting 4 imitators and was wondering what people thought of these enclosures. im not so sure because of the screen but any input is greatly appreciated. thanks

the fruit flies seem to be a problem with the screen inserts. If you want, you can retrofit them, to eliminate fruit fly escapees, though.

I have heard of people simply placing plastic wrap on the screen, to help hold in the humidity as well as keep the flies in. Just a thought. Guess it depends where you place your light.

4 imitators need at least a 50 gallon tank, not a ten! have u ever kept darts? did u do any research? imitators are very territorial for such little frogs and it is best to get a pair, if you get more most likely there will be one that gets leftout and bullied and eventually dies. plus they eat fruit flies and the flies will get out of the screen very easily.

My opinion i would use an all acrylic vivarium you can customize it to what your species frog needs as well as yours. alot more options to work with for you, those cages are ok but your limited to what you can do why get something you dont need and have to change it ?
