Baby set ups?

python36 Sep 26, 2006 11:10 PM

Hello,
I have a great small breeding group of 5 females and a male. I have 10 eggs in the incubator, some will be hatching soon and I was wondering how you guys house your babies. I heard housing them in more than groups of 2 causes stress and a high chance of tail loss. I would also like to keep them separated by mother also for sale purposes. Any Ideas?

I've used Critter Keepers for my baby's, lined with paper towels and silk plants to climb. They've done very well. Also with this last batch I went to PetCo and bought a 5 gallon tank and lid, a little more substantial and not as easily knocked over!

My cats have a tendency to knock critter keepers over, so I was very pleased to see petsmart was selling the 5.5 gallon aquariums with the sliding screen top for only 2 dollars more than the equivalently sized critter keeper.

I don't know if this is a nationwide thing... but its definately worth looking into.

What I have been using with my baby crested geckos are dry storage bins. These are nicely tall but not too huge and are pretty cheap at the local dollar store (dollarrama is where I bought mine). They are roughly 10"x4"x4" in size. They do taper towards the bottom a bit but overall, I find they are great for 1-2 baby geckos. A bit of fake plants, papertowel and some holes drilled in for ventilation and they work great.

For food and water dishes I just use caps off of pop bottles.
