my yellow anaconda digs her rat pups and i would like to give her a little variety by giving her a f/t chick but i've heard stories that boids can become addicted to chicks and that a diet mainly of chicks inst very good for the snake, My question is if giving her a chick maybe once a month is that going to start an addiction? just curious i won't feed her any chicks until i hear back from someone

I never feed my snakes anything that I'm not prepared to switch over to completely. I've dealt with addictions and they can be a real pain if you can't get that type of feeder animal readily. Or if you don't want your snake eating a diet of pure chicks. As long as it's eating and doing well. Why change anything?

My green pretty much eats only chicks. Occasionally he'll take a small rat, but usually he just ignores them. I dont think he's addicted yet, but if he keeps this up he will be.
