Hibernation????

macajuel Sep 27, 2006 01:24 PM

Guys, I posted this last week in an old post but this question still boggles me:

do you believe that if a Boa was to be put into this predicament where the temp gradually drops, would their body functions slow down and they go into sort of a hibernation state? I ask because my father-in-law believes this and he was also told this is true from a reptile specialist at the rehab clinic for animals that they work at. I honestly don't believe this because being that they are from humid and hot regions they have no need for this sort of function where they need to adapt to the cold, thats just my 2 cents. Any opinions? Later guys.

Yes they would slow all bodily functions and if temps went too low eminent death will be certain...
Boas do NOT hibernate....but all living things will slow down all functions in colder temps. My 2 cents...Andy
