Doing my part

Elaphefan Sep 27, 2006 09:10 PM

My sister calls me from 200 miles away to ask me about this 4 foot snake she has come across while walking her dog in Alexandria VA. She described the snake to me and asked if the snake was poisoness. She said it was black with white under its chin and running back about a third of its body. Well we all know that she had come across a Black Rat Snake, and I told her so. She then got it to move off the path so that someone riding their Mt. Bike wouldn't run over it and hurt the snake. The last thing she asked me before she let me get back to work was "Do they climb trees? Because that is what this one is doing."

We can change the world, but we have to do it one person at a time.

3 weeks ago I had a guy from the other side of one of our plants walk up to me with juvie banded watersnake. He had blood on his hands and told me to be careful.I assured him he was fine while the little turd bit me.
We both walked and talked about snakes for the 20 minute round trip to a feeder creek. It made me feel great that after years of preaching that once in awhile it pays off.
