If you have a light on, either on the tank or in the room, they will usually avoid it and sleep it off. As soon as there is minimal or no light, they become active.
Hey! turned off her lamp and she jumped. Thanks bud. =)
But if this is the case, do Leopard Geckos mate in the dark?
I have a female and a male in there and I want them to mate but no luck in the day because there always sleeping.(pictures show them mating in the light...
It all depends. There have been time I will drop a female in the studs cage and it happends right away. Sometimes it also takes a couple days to happend. Either way, after 3-5 days I take the female out and put her back in her cage. So they both can rest up and be ready for round 2.
Good luck! Sam.
What are your temperatures like in the cage?
85F, according to the Thermo

I try to keep the temps generally around the same every day. but heres my Gecko temp and light scheduel...
Temps
I try to keep my temps around the same but they tend to drop at night anyways.
Temps on the right side(hot side) are generally 85F - 95F
and
Temps on the left side(cool side) are generally 75F - 85F
Day and Night temps make the temps vary
In the morning, about 6am, I turn on the light(lamps) and turn off the underpad heater. I'm turning off the pad during the day because the when both the lights and the heat pad are on, plus the daily morning temp rise. Everything starts to heat up and in particular the little cave I have for them. I know my geckos like to sleep there during th day so I turn off the pad so that they can sleep there during the day. I don't want the pad to heat up the cave to the point where its a heat rock that can possibly burn my geckos. As fall and winter comes closer every day, I will start to leave the heat pad on, but till then, thats my morning rutine.
And for the night, 3 hours before 6pm I start the pad to get a warming head start and once 6pm hits, I turn off the lights. Around this time, my geckos start to do there daily rutine of checking around the cage. Drinking water, etc, also just to add, they are checking out the humid hide.
My temps are a constant 90 for the hotspot and 80 for the rest of the enclosure. In winter the cool side does get a little cooler due to our house temps.
They are nocturnal so them being active after the lights go out is normal. I was just wondering because your pic shows what looks like the leo sleeping in the open. That's not natural and made me think that they did not have a cooler hide to retreat to. At our petsmart there cages are way overheated, there leos will sleep in the water dish trying to stay cool. I asked them about the temps once and they accused me of just trying to "cause trouble". 95 is not excessively hot but I would make sure to have an area cooler than 85 so they can cool off if needed.
