korean snake

KoreaAF_Guy Sep 28, 2006 08:57 AM

hello, i was wondering if anyone knows of a good website with pictures of snakes found in south korea. im stationed at kunsan right now and i came across a little guy i hadnt seen before. unfortunatly i didnt have a camera with me, so thats why i was wondering about a good site. it was about the size and body shape of a medium sized garter snake, but it had glossier scales. its coler was mainly a carmel color with black spots, and some light coleration too, but carmel was the main color. for a little guy it was pretty agresive too, i know it wasnt venomous cause there is only one type of venomous snake around here and it looked nothing like it at all. thanks

hmm, it kinda looked like the oligodon formosanus (sp?) but it says thier range is southern china, not south korea, but i guess china isnt all that far from here. i wish i had my dang camera with me, it was a beautiful snake.

Try looking through the EMBL reptile database. It is useful to narrow down which species of a particular genus it could have been - http://srs.embl-heidelberg.de:8000/srs5bin/cgi-bin/wgetz?[REPTILIA-Species:Oligodon*]
