When do you know if eggs are good or bad?

Piglet106 Aug 05, 2003 08:35 PM

Was wondering when you know if the eggs that you are incubating are good or bad....they don't have foul smells yet, but all but 2 of them have turned "pinkish" color....They are about 2 weeks old now, and I don't know how to tell if they are bad or good? Any help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks again to all that posted before.....

Pink is good, that means they "should" be fertile. Best way to tell is to candle them and you should see veins in the eggs. Just make sure you put the eggs back in the way they came out. You can just do a search on here for more information on candling.
Good luck...

They can turn dull in appearance, turn a shade of yellow (tan), sometimes they smell, sink in or go moldy. You can tell if they are bad within a week of them being laid as a general rule.
If yours look the way you say they do, I would suggest candeling them and looking for veins. They are probably good.

GOOD LUCK
