You asked..."when can you feed hatchling veiled chameleons? is it right after they hatch? the next day? or give them a few hours to warm up?"...I usually put a single pinhead cricket in their cage a couple of hours after the chameleon has been put in the cage.(The pinheads can't get out of the cage I use). This is not enough to annoy them much and when the pinhead is gone, I know they are ready to eat.

I'm sure there are other ways to start them off too.

I myself feed mine around two to three days after hatching. They are still living off whats left og their yolk sac in them,so I was told. Never had a problem yet. Just warm them up and start for a few days then start dropping the crix in . Oh yet I always start out with 1/8 inch crix and never had a problem either. I always had a hard time keeping pinhead alive Plus I never felt like I was getting my moneys worth. Why feed them something so small when they can easily eat 1/8 inch crix. Everyong preaches "nothing bigger then the width of their eyes. Plus I cook my eggs at room temp so take usaully hatch out a lot bigger then the 5-6 month babies, better hatch rate too.

chameleons will begin eating a day or two after hatching.
