SW Pastels...long

Camlon Reptiles Sep 28, 2006 07:23 PM

Several years ago Diana and I traded Stan Ruppel for two Stonewashed Pastels both males. They were from the same clutch and the first one was very abberant while the second was unusal looking more so than any other Pastel I had ever seen at the time. We tried breeding them for several years with no success and sold the more abberant of the two last year at the Anaheim NARBC Show. This season the remaining male bred several females and one of the clutches just hatched and all of the Pastels look just like daddy. I just thought I would give a little background on these really awesome Pastels and as soon as the rest of the clutch sheds we will post images.

Very nice snakes indeed. I've begun having more difficulty determining which pastel look I like more. I posted a pic in the ball pics contest of two male pastels I had, one of which was a nice yellow while the other was a tannish, washed out looking snake. As I said in the post, they are just degrees of beautiful, because I see too many people jump on the "brownish pastels are ugly pastels" bandwagon. Of course it isn't like a pastel is a pastel is a pastel, but they're all great snakes, just like all normals are beautiful in their own ways. I think the stone washed pastels will start to rise in popularity as the really yellow ones become more common.

Oh well, a long post to say PRETTY SNAKES Good luck with them.
