Black rat throat puff?

phiber_optikx Sep 28, 2006 11:54 PM

I just had a quick question. Do black rats "puff" their throats defensively? I have noticed Molly's throat is sometimes puffed and I will look at it a few seconds later and it is normal. I was unsure of whether they do it as a defense mechanism to look larger or if maybe she has hook worms or lung flukes. I opened her mouth and saw nothing but her throat was closed at the time. Thanks for any help and yeah yeah "take her to the vet!" I am working on it
