Baby Crestie With Buldged Eye??

Brock Sep 29, 2006 01:18 AM

I've got a 2 week old crestie I hatched out, and it seems to have
a bulged eye? I kept a leucistic Texas ratsnake a few years back
and of of them have a genetic mutation that causes their eyes to 'bug' out.

There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it, it's lived two weeks so
far so I'm assuming its eating and drinking. I've separated him today
though just to make sure it has no competition for food.

Here are some pics, any thoughts? It seems as though the glassy part
of the eye (whatever it's called, sorry) is just bigger. It also seems that
it lets in more light because the middle part (man I suck at remembering eye
biology!) seems to be thinner than the other normal side.

Some geckos have "bug eyes". It's not a normal thing, but usually doesn't end up giving the geckos any problems. Just keep an eye on him to make sure.

You can't be sure without having it checked out. I have heard of geckos though with extra fluid in their eye, remedied with a tiny needle to take the extra fluid out. Then again it could just be the way it is.
