Just lost a baby vestigium :0(

PHEve Sep 29, 2006 10:04 AM

Just lost a baby, he was one of the newly hatched kids. About 3 weeks old. "Chuparosa" , the one who looked really chubby after arriving.

Crazy how things turn out, you would think a fat lil baby would have it made, but not so.... he never wanted to eat much. We tried, but did not work.

Sad and a bummer, but I have others to worry about. They all seemed a bit on the small side this time , guess because Chia had a couple clutches and this was the first season I got 4. Usually when there is one, it is larger.

The hybid C.vestigium X C. bicinctores (Chinoza) seems so much stronger and bigger. Much better appetite than the vestigium youngsters.

Sorry about your baby, at least the others are still doing ok, and you arent letting it get you down. Its funny how the laws often get broken when it comes to science, particularly survival of the fittest.

On a slightly different note, what do the hybrids look like when they are all growed up, and will you ever breed from them, or is that not an option, as is the case with lion and tiger cross bred offspring, I dont really understand the rules, lol

Thanks for all the Shared Sad feelings from all you guys, geesh we have all felt it some how this season.

Anyway Kelly as far as your question on what the hybrid will look like, not sure yet, There was a couple of us who wondered and some who thought that maybe C. grismeri was the outcome of the C. vestigium and C. bicinctores breeding but no one was real sure as not to many of us have seen what an adult coss of the two looks like. So I guess we will now, LOL

As far as breeding this one I really don't know what I will do, who would I breed it to? Another bicinctores ? Or another vestigium? I will have to see what the baby will look like when older, before I would make that decision.

Bet your getting excited to see your new enclosures all set up hunh?

So much sad news! I'm having problems of my own, just not with Rorschach (knock on wood). I'm sorry, Eve. I hope the rest of your babies continue to do well!
