mattman16 Aug 05, 2003 09:11 PM

hey ive seen a lot of people talking about their veilds being around 6 or so months old and not being very big. But i do everything possible for my chameleon to be healthy it gets pleanty of sun and calcium and crix mealies and flies and waxworms. why are all of these chams so small for their age.
and also if i posted my cham could you tell me what was wrong.

at 6 months i think a chameleon i still considered a juvenile. i have a panther that is 4 months old and is small but definately grown in the past month. also if i rememeber correctly you should feed your chameleon less during his juvenile, months 5 months to 1 year, to slow growth to prevent or less the chances of metabolic bone disease. which causes weak bones from accelerating his growth. i think as long as he has good color, is active as normal, and is eating ok his size is just fine.

one thing that you all have to keep in mind is that these things all grow differently. not every person is the same size at the same age. they grow at different rates and not all of them get the same size at maturity. some grow really fast at an early age, and others grow slowly over time. as long as your cham doesn't show any signs of sickness, don't worry.
