Mean as hell bull snake

coachwhipmaster Sep 29, 2006 04:50 PM

I just got a bull snake. It is about 5' and is very very aggressive. This snake was wild caught this summer by a local herp store. Will he ever tame? I don't really want to have to start handling him everyday, because I know he's gonna tag me a bunch when I start. My question is... will he ever just get used to captivity and not want to bite my face every time he sees it?

I'd let it go near where the pet shop person caught it (if you can find out where that is). Pet shops shouldn't be catching wild animals to sell. He may never calm down. But if you have to keep him handle him with leather gloves for a while. Usually bulls won't bite once you pick them up. If he's still biting even after being picked up then I'd let him go and get a captive bred juvenile bull. Most of the captive bred bulls tame easily. Good luck!
