snakes are in this scenario that i can think of in North American. One is the one pictured of guad. One is the lindheimeri. The other would be the specie of green found in Arizona / New mexico ? it really wasn't that long ago that both suboc and baird were of vague. But I do agree that bairdi got reconized way after suboc. oops ! Where does fox snake fall into here. Is it still rat with the boga or the panth scientific name applied ? I hope i know what i'm talking about ? Which I gotta ask, do we still have any true elaphe in north america with the name change ?

Fox Snakes WERE Elaphe vulpina - they are now Pantherophis vulpina. The Trans-Pecos genus remains unchanged - they are still Bogertophis subocularis.

>>Which I gotta ask, do we still have any true elaphe in north america with the name change ?

No, we no longer have Elaphe in North America. All of the recent genetic studies have shown that our N.American 'Elaphe' are actually more closely related to Asian Rat snakes than they are the original European Elaphe species which were the original type specimens.
