infrared temp gun

Juan M Sep 30, 2006 02:00 PM

My friend is selling an infrared temp gun. I was wondering if this is better than the thermomters sold in pet stores for reptiles.

temp guns give you a surface temp. thermometers give you an area temp. that is why it is better to have both.

Ok maybe not the "best", but I would not be able to imagine life without one now. You can check the surface temperature of every square inch of you enclosure, then play with you dog with the laser pointer (if you get that model)

I tried to use both, the infrared temp gun and a thermometer. If I set the temperature for the thermometer then the temp gun readings are to high and if I set the temperature for the temp gun then the thermometer reads that the temps are to low. Which should I use to set the temperature the temp gun or thermometer?

Thanks, Juan
