WTF not eatting! HELP!

Frogger91 Sep 30, 2006 05:06 PM

I noticed lately my WTF hasn't been eatting anything. It looks like his upper right corner of his mouth is a swollen too. What can I do to feed him something until his mouth heals up? I'm not sure what could have happend for him to get hurt, but I want to make sure he's at least eatting something until I can get him to a vet.

Thanks everyone

Well I haven't had any issues so far with my red eyes, but I will try to help.

As far as the injury, is it possible he got bit by a cricket while trying to eat it?

Possibly the crickets are too large? They should be the size of the distance between the frogs eyes. I know I have an issue with my pet shop, their smalls are too small and the mediums are almost winged like the large. Today I had to just take double the amount of smalls since I didn't want to risk impaction or bites with the mediums.

As long as the temps are correct and humidity are good, the next thing is possibly the substrate is staying too wet? Are you feeding in the tank or out? If in, is there something that it could have swallowed (usually a substrate) and got impacted?

I think they can go several days without eating so I wouldn't get too worried too soon. Check to see if you're still finding poo, that's always a good sign.

The seasons are changing, and the temps inside my house are 5-10 degrees cooler. I've added a 25 watt red light bulb to my WTF setup to keep him warm. He still eats everything he sees.

Have you monitored the temps inside your frog's enclosure? I shoot for temps ranging in the 70s and 80s.

it may be mouthrot, not a cut, either way you should take him/her to the vet.

it might be mouthrot, you'de have to go to a vet to get antibiotics so it doesn't get infected i think.
