Usually I let this pass.... but...

Sometimes it scares me to see the ads and the lack of grammar, spelling, and etiquette. There is an add in the venomous classifieds that is all caps (generally annoying), says pick up only and doesn't say where they are, and calls the snake a "cainbreak" instead of a canebrake (misspelling the name in two places). Not only that but it is "PICK UP ONLY ON THIS ON SHE IS HUGE"...

I'm going to let the other errors slide as you get the general idea. Maybe I'm being nit-picky, but I'd expect more out of a classified ad selling a potentially lethal animal.

I know there is a error in my post stating "add" when it should be "ad"

I agree.
We should be more professional when advertising venomous reptiles.
"Cainbreak" is not acceptible.
It is kinda scary, a person selling a deadly snake and not knowing the correct spelling of the animal.
Thats why Kingsnake has a "Preview Message" link at the bottom of the ad's.

I often wonder what people are thinking when they post stuff for sale and can't spell it. Its really not that difficult.

Actually, I think its a very scary testament to the education level of some of the people in this hobby.

This hobby has always attracted a VERY wide range of people.

Many herpers are very well educated (afterall, herpetology is a science).

The key is to always be careful whom you deal with.

There happens to be quite a few edumacated people in the classified's. Why there happens to be one from NC in there right now who has his doctorit in herpatology. He sells monicle's and everything. HA!!!!!
I don't know what's worse, the spelling, or the prices in some of these ad's. $1000 for an '06 polystictus? Gimme a break.
Did I mention that keeping and selling hots is rocket science?

you take that back, atleast if you are refering to the posting I think you are, it is South Carolina (or listed as Carolina) NOT NC! LOL!

it is a sad state that is not the hobby or the hobbiests... it is the state of the education system and the lack of grammer skills that have become too prevalent on the web. It has become acceptible and overlooked.

(and yes mispellings above are on purpose, LOL)

The thing I wonder about is just how healthy are these snakes kept if they can't spell a simple name? There are exceptions, and some snakes that even some "experts" can never seem to spell right, but one that probably 80% of venomous keepers know about?
