Shed question

biff1111 Sep 30, 2006 07:38 PM

My MBK is always a decent eater...at times quite timid and cautious not ravenous. Eating 1 hopper F/T every friday same time, has let this week pass him by, had interest but rejected. Is this, or could this be from pre-shed, eyes havent greyed yet but skin sheen has faded. Tank is 85 warm side, 70-75 cool side. Fresh bedding water etc. Any ideas?

It sounds to me like a pre-shed issue or maybe a change of season issue mixed with a pre shed issue.. Many snakes slow down in eating or totally stop feeding when they feel the temp drop off in the fall.. This is totally normal for some animals..

i have never really fed my animals on a set time/day schedule but my animals skip meals all the time without my concern on my part.

Sounds like shedding. When did he shed last? Derek

could be a pre-shed thing more then likely but could also be nothing at all.Snakes go thru phases when they dont wanna eat and it is a normal thing tht shouldnt worry you much. Also i would recommend that you dont keep such a tight schedule. Vary it a bit and dont "sweat the small stuff" your snake is normal as long as it has displayed normal feedingf responces in the past

God bless, Greg
