Any ideas on this guy?

Ackie89 Sep 30, 2006 10:14 PM

I found this little colubrid at a friends house today in central NC. At first I thought it was a cornsnake, but then i started looking at its pattern around its head more closely-it has a backwards "V" compared to other corns I have seen, Im not sure if that means anything or not however. Can anyone tell me what exactly he/she is? Thanks!

I hope the pictures work,

If the pics don't automatically load, copy and paste the URL into your browser...that should work.

In what state was it caught? If you live close to the Mississippi River, I've seen prairie kings like that, but the picture could be of the poster child for mole kings. Good mole kings. Great find.

That is a Mole Kingsnake. And a very beautiful one I might add.

Looks more like a grey-banded kingsnake than a cornsnake, but I am horrible with taxonomy... cute little bugger, whatever it is

Yep...it's a Mole. I live in central NC also and caught one last year. Mine didn't look that good though...nice one!!!
