sick swollen slider

trustterri Sep 30, 2006 11:00 PM

Hi,I need help and dont know who to ask.I have a large male red earred slider who has come out of our pond with his whole right side swollen.front leg and back leg.He still has great body weight,so whatever happened has bee recent.I cant find any damage on him.Ive been soaking him in warm water.I can pull his swollen limbs out of his shell with little resistance from him.He is still strong on his left side. Please help me if you can.I love my turtles and thought i was taking good care of them until this happened. Its a medium farm pond with running water supply so its always fresh. What would cause his whole one side to swell like this, besides a head injury. And i dont know how that could have happened. Terri

I'd run him to a reptile vet.

You need to take him to a qualified vet. I would do it ASAP
