I will set the camera on macro....I think that would be "tulip" for Tom (herpzilla)...lol just kidding, Tom.
I will get a small container with just a thin layer of substrate (aspen in my case) and add a small water bowl. I use the water bowls that have the openings in the sides that double as hides.
I will put the snake I wish to photograph in the container and coax it under the hide.
I will give it a few minutes to settle in, get the camera ready, lift the water bowl and try to snap as many shots as possible before the little guy takes off.
Sometimes I get lucky and they are already curled up under a hide in their own containers. Then all I have to do is lift and shoot.
it usually only takes twenty or thrity shots to get one or two I like....LOL
