question bout feeding 18 footers....

the biggest burm ive owned was 14 ft. we fed her 2 rabbits about every 20 days. im just wandering what those of you feed the monsters. the females reacing 18-22 ft.

It's not really that much different. Sizes of prey increases but even for the big 20-footers, a 10lb rabbit is a pretty good sized meal. Two a month (or even one depending on weight) will keep the snake in tip, top shape. Some folks advocate feeding prey twice that size and while they can certainly handle it, it can also be a bit of a stress load on a captive animal. The key with big burms is to avoid obesity at all costs.....keep them lean but well fed and they'll live a long time.

That was very interesting. There is someone on a different forum who has a 16ft burm. He feeds her a 55lb pig every 3 weeks. Do you think that is over doing it? Also after the meal the lump is HUGE

Big snakes are designed to eat big meals but in my opinion, that is really way too big in a captive setting. But, I'm sure the snake isn't complaining; I just think that kind of feeding schedule will eventually lead to one obese animal unless it has a LOT of room for movement and exercise, etc. If something went wrong and that snake regurged, it could be doomsday for the animal.
