Been finding a lot of snakes around my North GA home lately. That time of year I guess.
This guy was found dead. He was "very dead" and we were out all day. Not sure where he came from. Wondering if a bird dropped him.
Anyway, I've caught black rats before but this guy is slightly different. He had yellow circles between the saddles on top (like a corn) and many of his saddles were a very dark red instead of black.
Is this a black rat or maybe something else?
Beautiful hatchling corn snake ! The hatchlings from North GA and North Al look identical, dark black..With out looking at the head or the ventral one would say hatchling black rat snake.. Too bad the little corn didnt make it.
Looks like a corn to me. The checker board type pattern on the underside gives it away.
That is so sad! I had one of those hatchlings that got out of its cage and I never found it. I'm in Memphis, however, so I don't think he got that far! Mine was a Kisatchie Corn.
