My radiated rat snake has been making clicking noises since I got him. I've had him 2 weeks now - today I noticed that his eyes are clouded, so he will be shedding - but he's done that clicking thing ever since I got him. He does not have any discharge, he doesn't open his mouth (except to eat, which he does fine). It's not loud enough to notice when he's in his cage - just when I am holding him. Also, although it does seem to be in his first half of his body - it isn't a constant, regular thing.

Since no-one else seems to be answering your question... My ball python literally whistled for 2 or 3 months. I finally took him to the vet fearing respiratory illness (which by the way your snake might have). Of course, all the whistling went away while at the vet's office. The vet said not to worry about it, that it was probably a stuck shed in the nostrils, as he otherwise looked healthy... and that by the way he was a she.
