i know everyone says to use paper towels. i am using lizard litter dessert blend(ground walnut shells). i was wondering if anyone has ever had any problems with this product. also if i do switch to paper towels how do i regulate the temp over the uth. now i have a good inch of the substrate to keep it from being over 90deg. i started with the wood shavings and it was getting close to 100 over the heater.

youd donnt have to use paper towels. you can also use tile slat or reptile carpet. both of those work great and are really easy to clean. i normaly use paper towels on babies, sick, or quarantined leos. other then that i use either reptile carpet or tile.

My little Leo (it's about 4 weeks old) is on paper towels, and the heating pad is directly placed on the glass underneath. Whenever I check on him, he is actually in one of the hides directly on top of the heater, and it may well be over 90degrees. He has 6 other hides in his enclosure, but that seems to be the one he likes the best. I havn't seen him on the cool side since he first explored his enclosure.

To regulate the temps I use a light dimmer. You can easily find them at Wal Mart, Target, Menards, etc.

I used lizard litter once, for about three days, right after I got one of my leos. Two months later she is STILL pooping out that stuff.

I wouldn't use it if I were you, tile is so much better!
