Is something wrong with my leos?

DarkBlades Oct 02, 2006 10:32 AM

They are both just laying there. ( And this has been going on for a few days.

My male has been laying in one spot, his eyes are open. When I turned on the light, he closed his eyes(going to sleep im guessing).

Female moved into the den last night, most likely going to sleep.

But both of them just lay there.

The mostly concerned about my male, hes usually very aggressive but at the momment when I pick him up, he fights back very little now.

My female is starting to act the same, but yet she still has a bit of juice.

I think* the problem is that there both starving for food. I am guilty of not feeding them for almost a week now but 1k of mealworms are on there way.

Do leos act this way if there hungry?

I really hope once the worms come in there back to normal. ( There scaring me.

How old are they? Babies/ juvs should be fed EVERYDAY. Adults usually every other to every third depending on the gecko.

If you haven't fed little ones in over a week, that would constitute abuse. It could stunt their growth permanently and leave them open to infection.

Full grown, healthy, adults will be ok, but you would have to support them in order for them to replace the tail fat lost.

If you had a dog/ cat, would you let them go a week without food? Someone would, no doubt, report you.

Agree. A week is way too long. You should have planned to get food before you got your leo.

It's been a couple of days, how are your geckos doing? (If food hasn't perked them up, it might be time for the vet...)

Not feeding a leopard gecko for a week will not do any real harm. Leopard geckos have been knowin to go for months without eating then resume nomal eating habits and be fine for it. Although I do beleive you should have been offring them food from your local pet store rather then waiting.

As for there condition I would highly doubt this has anything to do with there feeding. The geckos acting lethargic is most likely a husbandry issue. What is your set up like?
