What is the best subtrate for a Hognose

chychy Oct 02, 2006 11:48 AM

My boyfriend just bought me a Western Hognose for my birthday. I have asked several people what the best substrate for him is and I keep getting different answer's! No one can seem to agree on anything! I know that he's a burrower, and does not need much humidity...Is sand made for repitles ok? Or should I use something different? Thanks!

Personally, I use aspen bedding, becuase it has low dust, so you dont have to worry about their nares getting plugged. And also they can burrow easly in it. But really you should try alot of different substrates, as long as there safe, and see what you like the most. People in the herp hobby rarely agree on substrate for some reason.
