Looked at an Intermontana Today

Rivets55 Oct 02, 2006 06:26 PM

Stopped by the local herp shop in K'ville today. They have an Emoryi that looks exactly like the intermontana Terry posted below. They couldn't tell me if it was male or female, and it was so fat I wasn't sure myself. Its an adult, maybe 28 or 32 inches and very robust.

I'm thinking, if its a male, to try and cross it to Yolanda (my big female cream) and see what comes out! They are wanting 79.95 USD for it.

Thoughts from my fellow Rat Fans?

If lead paint is so deadly why do they make it so delicious?

I wouldn't want another female. I'm actually looking to pair-up somebody with the same breed!

Right now the only male I have is my Bairds, who I'm not gonna breed to a Black Rat or Creamsicle, and definitely not to a subadult Desert King!

The shop agreed to sex it and are supposed to call me.

John D

If it's a female, I'd pair it up with my lone male, split costs and split offspring.

John,

Does Kville = Kingsville, TX? I don't even know what state you live in.

Can you post a pic of the snake? If it's full grown it's probably a male, 'cus females get a little bigger than that. If it's a female I might be interested in it myself. I just have a male.

Thanks...Terry

Terry,

LOL - My bad its Knoxville, TN

>>Can you post a pic of the snake? If it's full grown it's probably a male, 'cus females get a little bigger than that. If it's a female I might be interested in it myself. I just have a male.

I hadn't thought about asking to get pics. Not sure what their take would be on that. Maybe if I explained there was someone else interested in it they might give the go-ahead. No harm in asking.

I looked at the tail, it looked long and thick, but didn't have the "bulge" male corns show from above. However, the snake is pretty stout, and not being familliar with the breed I was unsure.

They offered to sex it and call me back, so maybe I'll know more tomorrow.

Cheers,

John D

Thanks for the info, John.

I guess it could be a male or female. Intermontana are naturally heavy bodied. I wonder how a pet shop got ahold of it though. Intermontana aren't exactly common. Maybe the shop owner is breeding them. Anyway, hope you get a pic. I'd like to see it and see if it's an intermontana or something else.

Terry,

I seriously doubt he's breeding emoryi, since its a singleton, and the babies he has are all corns, balls, burms, beardies, etc. They've only had it a few weeks or so. Maybe a trade?

It doesn't look to be WC. It does looka an awful lot like the one you posted below. I'll see if I can get a pic.

Regards,

John D
