In-laws and presentations....

I am preparing for my first school presentation at my mother-in-laws school tomorrow. My mother-in-law is the prinicpal for independent studies and I had asked her to do a presentation and she said YES. The irony tonight is she called me saying that they found a rattlesnake in their almond orchard in Arbuckle,Ca. They called me and asked what to do with it. I gave them the advice to let it go in the adjacent field across the street. They were ultra careful in capturing the little guy and let me know that a year or two ago they probably would have killed it.

It feels good to know that I have changed some folks minds about snakes, particularly rattlesnakes.

I will let you know how the presentation goes. I am a bit nervous even though I am presenting to a bunch of kids.

Well Done!!!! I myself have done such presentations and love to hear that I have changed the possible outcome for these creatures I love so much. You are an asset to your community and should be proud of your work to educate people on the ethical response to an encounter with other creatures.

I have been wanting to do a school presentation for awhile now and finally got my chance today. My mother-in-law is a principal at an independent studies school nearby.

I had 2 presentations, one for K2 and one for K3-6 this morning. I ended up bringing a variety of snakes including Boas. I had a great time and the kids seemed to as well. The teachers and parents were asking questions and getting involved too!

For the most part all the kids weren't afraid and some even had Ball Pythons as pets. Though, the coolest thing was getting the kids that didn't have any interest in holding them decide for themselves that they really did want to hold a snake!

Here are a couple pics. I should have some more pics soon but wanted to check with the parents first and get their permission before blasting the internet with their kids picture! If you could only see their smiling faces!!

I just wanted to say THANKS to Gray at Allboas.com for providing the information on his website in having a successful presentation!!

Mom-in-law helping and other teacher helping out.

Sooon Tim. I think I may have talked the lady into it. I would like to check out the area. I was looking at some property in Briggs, Texas..... 800 square foot home(big enough to live in for a bit/stick built home) with 5 acres! The home looked well kept 65K was all they were asking....I could stay home with the dogs and snakes while my wife worked and still have money left over after paying the mortgage!!!

The presentation was a blast. I would like to talk to you sometime about incorporating Venomous talks to the kids or adults.....
