Golden yellow brooksi - clear belly test

zhivago97 Oct 03, 2006 07:12 PM

I've been researching this one for a while. My goal is to get a nice bright/sulfer yellow brooksi (little or no black pattern). If I can't locate a baby, then an adult.

Selecting a baby that may turn into such an nice bright yellow adult seems near impossible, other than the clear belly test (minimal/no flecks).

Someone posted a photo from the daytona show (look for "daytona temptation" if you want to see the photo) of a solid yellow, near patternless yellow brooks on a glass case. Anyway, this is my ideal, a terrific yellow unlike the standard look.

Anyone else have insight in terms of baby color? I mean, will the lighter colored babies more likely be lighter colored adults? What about bright yellow adults - does this color also originate from lightly colored babies or babies with a deep contrasting pattern?

In addition to clear bellies, are there any other indicators such as hypos or albinos or brown babies?

Selecting a good brooksi seems to be such a mystery so it may just be easier to find an adult.

Back when I was searching for the best hypos, that is exactly what I would look for...a clear belly. I would not doubt (although I must admit I haven't looked) that the one you describe is a hypo?
Most "real deal", if you can find one, will not have a clear belly and should be ceamy colored as adults...not "bright" yellow.
I have asked several times to see pics of anyone's Brook's and have been disappointed in what pass for the real deal.
While I have one or two ( I just lost a female)
I am never satisfied with the end result.
Peter Lindsay in LA has some from the old stock.

I was told the Love line tends to be pale yellow as adults while some other blood line is a brighter yellow.

I have seen photos of bright yellow hypos and normals, although they all have some black and are not patternless. Osborne's sulfur line is really nice but selecting a baby is the tough part.

I was the one who told you to look for clear bellies. But I was reffering to hypos and not normals. The pic you are referring to is of a hypo and NOT a normal brooksi. The Love line "hypos" had a clear belly and IMO is a good tell tale of the type of hypo you described and are searcing for..
