Pic and "STORY" could it be ture?

Twest Oct 03, 2006 07:33 PM

so here is the e-mail that had the pic attached... I believe it is a Western Diamondback. And looks like he is hold the snake way out to make it look bigger.... what do you think????

E-mail:

this lil guy (9' and 80 pounds) was found in the old klondike campgrounds where the moyers used to camp and where, in karen's startling words, she used to more than walk in those woods (giggle). this is 15 miles from karen and rick's, though jeff reminds me that the terrain changes a lot in those 15 miles, going from the flat of the farm to the crevised hills of the campground.

still.....................................

let this be a lesson to all of you. when at a campgrounds, keep moving. do not sit down on logs until you are SURE they are logs!!!!!!!

It's nowhere near 9' or 80 lbs. It's about a 5.5 ft western diamondback that probably weighs in around 6 or 7 lbs. Supposedly that is the "Turkey Creek Gas Works" in the background near Fritch, Texas. Boy that pic sure makes its rounds.

the tail seems to be almost to the ground the top of the tongs are at least to his shoulders and the snake is almost doubled over that guy would have to be about 4 feet tall for that snake to be 5.5 feet and on drugs to hold 80 lbs like that

I find the length to be harder to gauge, but there is no way he is holding 80 lbs like that.

A) Yes, I think it's pretty obvious the guy is on the small side (I'd guess 5'2"-5'4" maybe).

B) The snake is nowhere near the ground, it's just held up and closer to the camera so it takes up more of the frame than if it were on the same plane as the guy (standard fish photo trick).

Here's my post from the last time this one came up:

I think the guy is actually on the tall side. If you compare him to the buildings in the background he is a giant.

Well, how wide is the jaw on those tongs? That's the only other object in the same point of focus as the snake. Take that measurement, inch it along the snake, and you have the size.

this and the " other " pics make their rounds every few months. I have friend that has indeed some 6 ( almost one of closer to 7 foot ) footers of easterns and over 5 foot westerns and several huge timbers ( canebrake ) and of course while they may weigh in at over 12 pounds and eat rabbits, they do not and will not ever weigh anything of even 25 lbs. As he says when he saw this and the other pics, try lifting a sand bag of even 50 lbs with ANY clamp at any level and see if you can do it. The dude in pic doesn't even strain while holding as neither does the clamp !
I have pics of my friend with holding the big uns and showing his strain as his clamps are. I cannot post the pics due to not understanding how to delete my other pics in the gallery. Can someone tell me how to or can i send someone on here the pics by e-mail so they can post them on this forum. If someone can .....you all will see just how bogus this pic is !

is as big or bigger than the other go around picture. Ya gotta admit it looks bigger and heavier since it's bending the hook.......or try that horridus in the picture gallery being held by the same guy. Real snakes, real guy with absolutely no photo imaging other than the way it was photographed accidental.
