Today we recieved our 2.2 Gopherus flavomarginatus Bolson tortoise!!! We will be the only institution in the U.S to have full blooded animals, from our research! Talking about getting exciting, I will be posting pics in the next week or so! We are in the process of building our pen with artificial dens, the exhibit will be 44' by 28'. Ill post pics of it aswell.

You must be extremely excited to be able to work with this rare tortoise.
I have not seen a lot of literature about them and believe that even among tortoise enthusiasts they are largely unheard of. It is good to see that someone is actually getting to work with them.

OH, Im tottaly excited to be working with these guys!! Yeah most of the work on these guys stopped in the late 70's and early 80's and they were kinda forgot about. Hopefully next year I will be posting about babies!! here are a few pics of the exhibit and them!

These are the artificial burrows, the pipe in the second one is for a temp. probe to record day and night temps.
This is Mr. B him and Mrs B have been together for close to 30 yrs, and the were adults when caught, from what we were told.
This is Mrs. B, I was not able to get a good pic of here.
This is the other pair of Torts. These guys have never been together?? We will see how it goes.
