TWINS!!!!!

mgl Oct 03, 2006 10:05 PM

I love the genetics and science behind this scenario. I was trying for some extreme ghosts from Alvarez animals (now owned by Terry Dunham of Albino Tricolors and on breeder loan here). They were regular hypos and the male was 100% het anery, the female was 50% het anery. Well, 1,2,3,4 eggs pipped and all hypos...but I was really looking for the ghost. Then I checked the incubator before work and saw these 2 little guys and it took a second for me to realize they were pipping from the same egg and had different color snouts. I could only get 1 pic before they retreated and 1 was out when I got home.

Also, the clutch with the 1 ghost is going to be attached

thanks
mgl

were the twins both extremes or are you saying one was a ghost?then you said that they were fathered by extremes but in the first post you said they were normal hypos? Its probably just me but I don't get it LOL.....either way great looking animals and great score with extremes that should be poss het anery and a ghost thats from extreme line.

Hey Shannon,
Sorry for the confusion...the ghosts were both normal in appearence but from the extreme line as you mentioned so who knows. I should have put a forgot to the forgot. The parents of a trio I received from Terry D were extremes. The 3 were ready to go this year. The first female slugged out (100% het anery) and the second produced this clutch. So I guess it should have read the father of my adults was an extreme...hope I didn't screw that up. They are some really nice animals!

thanks

Has anyone this year produced a ghost extreme? Mike Falcon did produce one last year but was wondering if anyone did produce a ghost extreme this year. This year, Mike paired up the same parents of the ghost extreme he produced last year but was not able to produce a ghost extreme this year.

Mike was probably the only one likely to produce one this year. It would be nice to see an updated picture of it.

These are two extremes that I produced this year. They are each 50% het anery, so hopefully they will prove out and make an extreme ghost down the road...

Awesome looking extremes Paul ! I was fortunate enough to get a pair of hypo extremes 100% het anery from Mike this year. The parents of the ones I got this year are exact same parents that produced his ghost extreme last year. So, by 2008, hopefully, I will be able to produce one or two.

I did however manage to procure some of Mike Alvarez's remaining breeder. Some hypo def het anery, an anery def het hypo, and a double het for hypo/anery. All of these breeders are from the extreme line that he and Terry had been working on. They are growing fast so they will be able to breed next year and who knows, maybe Lady Luck will smile at me next year and grant me a ghost extreme.

Good luck with your projects next year. I have been enjoying the pics of your extremes hatchlings that you have been posting this year.

Thanks Paul!

For some reason, they all decided to shed at the same time so they are all in "bue". It will take a week or so for them to shed, then I'll take new pics.

I do have a latest pic of Mike Falcon's ghost extreme. I don't have it here at my office but I can send it to you when I get home. I'll shoot a quick email to Mike if it is all right for me to forward it to you. I'm sure it will be fine.

Thanks again Paul.
