After the baby making it only one day, I stopped hand feeding the older sick male Collared lizard about a week ago, he had started eating on his own, I came home to day and he was dead, even though he was eating, he never put on any weight and his poop was never solid, I think the vet was right, he was to old and lived in the wild to long to be held captive, so I will now enjoy all the rest of my lizards and rethink any more rescue missions for now.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Just remember that you gave it your best try and that some things are out of our control. It's great that you tried to help.

Shutting down the hospital so to speak, is a good thing , to get away from all of it for a while.

When we try so hard to get a sick lil critter to LIVE, and it just can not, it sort of ZAPS our emotional energies for a time.

You guys are kind and caring for even getting those lizards, they were just neglected too long, you did your best.

Feel better soon

It used to tear me up for weeks when I would lose the ones I tried to rescue. It still bothers me a lot, but I have had enough success over the years to know that more often than not they DO make it. So I keep bringing them home despite my better judgement.

Thanks for trying. I have great respect for folks who do what you did.
