Does anyone else's gecko love it? Mine hangs out inside it all day. It's funny, I opened the top today to check the moisture and he screamed at me and ran around the cage until I put it back on.

Mine never bothered with it, so I quit providing it - I just make sure her water dish is full and she's good to go. I think it has a lot to do with climate - never gets much below 40% relative humdity here, which is obviously way more than they'd have in their natural desert environment. If you live somewhere more dry, or your gecko just has a different personality than mine, I can understand it hanging out in the humid hide a lot. I've heard stories from all over of the spectrum with regard to this though. Some people never see their gecko in there, some see them use it when the gecko is shedding, and some, like you, see it in there almost constantly.

I mean, he does get out and run around, so i'm sure he can't be terribly bad off or anything..
I do live in SoCal, so our humidity is..well, non-existant. I danno, I just thought it was wierd that the little guy was chillin' in there so much. To each his own I guess!
My geckos absolutely love humid hides. They spend most of their time in them. ALl day long they sit in there and sleep. At night though they do come out and are all over the place.

Although they come from dry climates doesn't mean they don't dig and find moister. Your gecko needs a humid hide. Lets see a pic of its feet.

I wasn't entirely sure what you wanted to see, so I took a bunch. BTW, feet pics are super hard to get.

And the cage..

And it's hide.

Tada!
Thats still a baby. It probably has only shed a dozen times lol. It may not have a problem for a long time and if you keep an eye on there toes you could correct any shedding problems over he next 10 or so years. You could also make it easy on yourself and just make a humid hide. It isn't easy getting shed off their toes.
I am only trying to help people learn the lessons that my poor geckos had to teach me. I used to think sand was ok also. Then again I didn't have access to forums full of info and helpful people with years if not decades of experience

At the time I didn't have any pics of her feet, and as the original poster said, it's hard to get good ones of their feet - my hands aren't the steadiest, and she has a tendency to move, so this was the best I could do, but as you can see, she's got all her toes. I assure you her front feet are the same with regard to having all the toes, I just couldn't get any non-blurry shots of them at the time. Anyone wanting better shots, please feel free to mail me a tripod

My male loves the new humid hide I added in, but my female rather hang out in the little cave like den. I hope when shes ready to lay eggs that my male moves aside so she can lay her eggs.
