Question about bull snake morphs

waspinator421 Oct 04, 2006 04:03 AM

I was wondering what the difference is between "snow" and "albino" bull snakes. I've seen a few pictures of both (some in the classifieds) and they both have red eyes. Do the "snows" just have a reduced pattern? I apologize for such a "newbie" question.

Thanks for your time.

Does that mean that all snows are automatically hets for albino and white sided?

LloydHeilbrunn Oct 04, 2006 11:32 PM

No,I would interept it as meaning they are homozygous for both albino and whitesided.

Well, although technically, they are homo, not het, they are "het" in the sense that if you breed a snow to a WS you will get all WSs or if you breed a snow to an amel you will get all amels.

LOL, isn't that like saying a homozygous normal is het for normal?

Thanks for the info, that makes sense. I haven't seen any pictures of an adult snow. Do they hold that white color, or do they get some yellow? A picture would be awesome if anyone has one on hand.

Thanks again!

The few adults I have seen have had some red speckling and a little yellow speckling. They are not as uniformally white as say a blizzard corn.

I hope that Jason doesn't mind that I borrowed this pic from his site. He has a ton of great pics of the bull morphs he produces.

Here is a picture of an adult snow. They tend to whiten up as they get bigger.

There is a lot of variation as in snow corns. SOme have quite a bit of pinbk, while others(like one of our females) have little or no pink, just yellow highlights.
