Another venomous lizard?

razordance Oct 04, 2006 11:37 AM

I'm just looking for clarification... A heard a while ago that a third species of lizard had been discovered to be venomous, a relative of iguanas, IIRC. Can anyone give me info on this?

Thanks

I think you probably heard about BGF's paper and research showing that colubrids and venomous snakes, iguanids and varanids pretty much evolved from common venomous ancestors. Check the forums on www.venomdoc.com -- his paper and some pics of vestigal venom glands in monitors and stuff is posted there as a sticky.
